Why we built NextStep Summer

Kids lose real ground over summer break — studies consistently show measurable learning loss between the school years, especially in math. The usual fixes are expensive: summer camps and tutoring can run hundreds of dollars a week, and generic worksheet packets feel like more homework, not less.

We built NextStep Summer to solve that with something low-effort and actually fun. But the more families used it, the clearer it became that kids need that same steady, no-pressure practice all year, not just in June and July. So today, NextStep Summer runs year-round: short, game-like weekly missions hosted by Summer — about 15 minutes — across Math, Reading, and Social Studies, banded to your child's current grade.
