Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms

By creating an account or using NextStep Summer (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Who can create an account

Accounts must be created by a parent or legal guardian on behalf of their child. By creating an account, you confirm you are an adult with the authority to do so.

3. Description of the Service

NextStep Summer provides grade-banded learning content, games, and activities for rising 1st–4th graders across Math, Reading, and Social Studies.

4. Subscriptions, billing, and cancellation

Access to the Service requires a paid subscription. We currently offer a monthly plan ($12.99/month) and a 3-month plan ($29.99 every 3 months). Prices are shown at checkout and may change in the future; we will provide notice before any price change takes effect for existing subscribers.

New subscribers receive a 7-day free trial. Your payment method is charged automatically when the trial ends unless you cancel before then. The free trial is a one-time offer — cancelling and starting a new subscription later does not entitle you to another free trial.

Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period (monthly or every 3 months, depending on your plan) until you cancel. You can cancel anytime from the "Manage billing & subscription" link in the app, which opens our payment processor's secure billing portal. Cancelling during the free trial means you will not be charged; cancelling after the trial stops future renewals, but your access continues through the end of the billing period you already paid for.

Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable, including for partial billing periods or unused time after cancellation.

Payments are processed securely by Stripe, Inc. We do not receive or store your full card number on our servers — see our Privacy Policy for details.

5. Your account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account password and for all activity that occurs under your account. Please notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.

6. Acceptable use

You agree to use the Service only for its intended purpose of supporting your child's learning, and not to misuse, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service.

7. Content and intellectual property

All lessons, stories, games, and other content within the Service are owned by us or our licensors and are provided for your family's personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, redistribute, or resell any part of the Service's content.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. While we work to keep content accurate and the app running smoothly, we do not guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for every learner's needs.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

10. Changes to the Service or these terms

We may update these Terms or change, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time. We will update the "Last updated" date above when these Terms change, and material changes will be communicated by email.

11. Termination

You may cancel your subscription and request account deletion at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
